We all know about apples and their health benefits. But did you know the artichoke is actually the base of a purple thistle flower? In the wild it has a bushy purple flower coming out of its top! Very cool. This recipe provides two staple ingredients that used to keep people fed through a long winter.
1/4 apple cut up
1oz artichoke liqueur
1 glass red wine
Chop the apple up into small slices so you can drink them in while you drink the sangria. Or, if you're less picky, you can use your fingers to pluck them out. Pour in 1oz of the artichoke liqueur. The brand I have is Cynar but there are probably other brands out there as well. Fill the wine glass up with red wine, and enjoy!
To turn this into a party sangria recipe, there are usually four large glasses of wine in a 750ml bottle of wine. Simply multiply all ingredients by four and use a full bottle of wine in a large pitcher or bowl.

Note: I created these sangria recipes and have had them online for years. If you find similar sangria recipes elsewhere, it's because someone copied my idea. I do appreciate it when visitors write in to warn me about the plagiarism - but usually there's not much I can do about it! What's really funny is when they copy my design right down to my sangria pitcher. That's a bit much :)
