Hillebrand Winery -
Art Show
Not only does Hillebrand offer excellent wines, and a fantasic restaurant that I could easily eat in every day of the year, but they also offer great music and artwork depending on when you visit. When we visited in mid September, we were lucky enough to come in the middle of one of their art shows. With the vineyards stretching off into the distance, you wander amongst numerous tents of fine artwork. The items on exhibit were gorgeous!
For example, there were "Marble Masterpieces" created out of Italian Carrara marble. These hunks of marble had been carved to resemble oranges, apples, lemons, cherries, pears, bananas, and much more. When I say they resemble them, I mean they look EXACTLY like the fruits in question. The color, with shading and discoloration ... the texture, with tiny pits and defects. If you didn't touch one of the objects, you would have sworn it was the real fruit. It was really quite amazing, and the company is based in Toronto.
Another exhibit was by David S. Nardi photography. He creates gorgeous large scale "paintings" by printing his images on canvas. He doesn't use a normal camera to get this level of detail - the film he's using is an actual 4 inches by 5 inches PER NEGATIVE. If you visit his website you can see how that compares with normal film and digital cameras. The quality per picture is simply amazing, and the images he portrays of the Canadian landscapes were gorgeous.

There were bronze sculptures, flattened wine bottle cheese trays, waterfalls, painters, artists, stained glass creators, and much more. It was truly a wonderful collection of artworks to wander through.
