The Wines
A visit to the Chateau Ste Michelle reveals a selection of delicious wines.
2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Our trip to Washington State was all about tasting Cabs, and this was a brand new release. It was bottle aged for 18 months, with merlot blended in. As a result it was still tannic but light, with flavors of currants, anise, cassis and mocha. $33.99.
2001 Cold Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon This cab was heavier than the Reserve, with smooth ripe cherry flavors, as well as raspberry, licorice, vanilla and spice.
2001 Canoe Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon Another nice bodied wine, with cherry and red fruit flavors, and a nice smooth finish.
2002 Muscat Canelli With 6% residual sugar, this light white wine is lovely for a hot summer day.
