Paumanok Winery
Long Island, New York

Visit Date: January 2005

Paumanok Winery is one of the true long-term, family run wineries in the Long Island region. Founded in 1983, Paumanok is run by owner Charles Massoud and his sons. The name comes from the original Native American term for Long Island.

Paumanok makes a large range of wines, from old vine merlot to fresh Chenin Blanc and even rich dessert wines. With each wine their aim is to bring out the natural fruit flavors that their vineyard has created. They grow two different clones of the Chardonnay grape, with each type providing its own set of flavors and spices for the final blend.
