Old Field Winery
Long Island, New York
We first visited the Old Field Winery in 2003, when they were still building their tasting room. This winery is the second winery you hit as you come off the ferry, on the far eastern end of the main winery road.
Old Field was our favorite visit of the 2003 trip! The winery owners were very friendly, the wines were flavorful, and everything was 100% authentic. You really got a sense that these wines were hand cared for from start to finish by the people who tended the land.
We tried to stop by on our January 2005 visit, but the winery was closed for the month! We did get a chance to chat with the owner for a few minutes, feeding the chickens and looking at the frosty vines. We are hoping to get back out later in 2005, to see the new winery building and to see what the new wines are like.
Enjoy the photos and write-ups!
