They do go down there to stretch their wings, i left the bottom mostly open so they could go down there and flap without hitting anything. I was looking for a wide cage, but found this one and the price was right (got it on Ebay). they lowest they usually go is the sand perches in the middle, unless they want to flap for a bit. Ideally i'd like to get one that is as tall as this one but as wide also, so they can really fly. In the one i have they fly from top to bottom but that's about it.

ohh nice, the only reason I guess I prefer the wide cage for them is because when I was looking for a new cage to buy a lot of people on here were recommending a wider cage rather than a tall one. but obviously they both are fine. my keets spend so much time out of the cage tho that I don't know if it would even matter. but actually lately I'll end up putting them back in the cage for a while so i can turn the fan on since it's so hot lately and my room is the hottest in the summer for some reason

Thanks Jeanine and White Pegasus and everybody else. I will try ebay because when I went to Petsmart they did not have a huge selection and I did not like their cages.
Wow Ashlynn is really beautiful. I have never seen a yellow keet like that before.

What do you guys think. Should I try putting in more toys? She has been fine so far with the few toys.

Well, do you have a picture of the cage? smile

Here's a great cage for a keet with an amputated foot. This cage has ladders and platforms inside of it already. And it's wide and tall as well.

KoKo, I am guessing that you probably have enough toys in the cage. A few is usually enough, as long as there is a variety of textures and activities in those few toys. Also, it's important not to overcrowd the cage, or the birds can't spread their wings when they're in there.

BTW, it's really nice that you rescued your handicapped bird. Some of them aren't so lucky...
