I have found a lost parakeet in my backyard, and I have followed the steps mentioned yet nobody has claimed the parakeet. So, I am very willing to take care of the bird. However, either this bird was mistreated or it is very old. He is missing a toe on his right foot, and when perched he won't put any pressure whatsoever on his right leg. He bites me when I try to get him on my finger. Other than that, he seems chattery and cheery and loves music. I just wanted to know if anybody had any advice.

maybe you should bring him to a vet and get him/her checked out and maybe the vet can predict the age...

Post a picture of him. Its easier to figure out the age when you can see him.

I suggest taking to the vet and getting a health check just to make sure he isn't injured since his leg seems to be bothering/hurting him.
