The book twice mentions Silas's 13 round gun, The thirteen-round Heckler and Koch USP 40 had been provided by the Teacher and again Checking the thirteen-round clip in his Heckler and Koch,

Some puzzles - at the very beginning, Silas doesn't shoot Sauniere a second time because his gun is out of ammunition. So how did he use up the previous 12 rounds - OK he'd killed three other senechaux, did he need all those bullets?

Second - when and where did he rearm?

Third - I looked at the Heckler & Koch site, all the USP pistols there have a 10 round capacity.

Maybe it's a magical gun like they seem to have in spy movies, that shoot infinitely or run out of bullets immediately, based on the circumstances ...

Perhaps he only put 4 rounds in his gun. You don't have to fill them to capacity!!

Diddly

You've posted several times on this board about this book, so presumably it matters to you.

Since a lot of people think the whole book is true, and since Brown says its thoroughly researched, and since there are many things in the book that we cannot check, isn't it valid to consider the things we can check?

After all, if these are wrong, then how much relience can be placed on those other 'fact's that we can't easily check?

Diddly, some people feel that analyzing *anything* about the story is being picky, that we should just accept the entire thing as a giant "lie" / work of fiction and not think any of it is true. So really anybody who questions anything at all about it is being picky, now you're just talking degrees smile
