Hello. I'm new to this forum but I've had parakeets for about 5 years. I breed them and hand raise the babies. I had a female who passed away about 6ish months ago who was an awesome mom to her babies! I purchased a new female who is about a year old now and her and my male get along wonderful. They are mating and she is hatching the babies. The problem is is she isn't feeding the babies. She will sit on them but not feed them. I talked to the local pet store owner who is very knowledgeable and thought it was maybe a maturity thing or a vitamin thing. Said she should catch on. I stopped her from breeding for about 2 months and upped her vitamin intake. Vitamins in the water and food. So she hatched a baby yesterday morning I checked on it this morning and he was fed now this afternoon when I checked he is dead. I don't know what to do I'm getting pretty frustrated with her. I've looked for information online and can't find anything. Can anyone help with any suggestions or advice?? Thanks in advance!
That is definitely a traumatic experience to go through! What did the vet say, when you had the female keet checked out before the breeding began? Did she bring up any concerns? Have you talked with her about these issues?

Vet said she was healthy and also suggested more vitamins. I'm at a loss on what to do. She is sitting on 4 eggs still so I don't want to take her back to the vet yet and stress her out
