Hi All, I have, I hope, a quick question. I have two mated pairs. Hen 1, Blanca, has been laying eggs, and has finally settled down and we are expecting chicks in about 10 days. Hen 2, Bi-itch, is a little younger (and earned her name!). She has only laid a couple of eggs, but doesn't have any under her now. She is acting like one of my broody hens... Sitting, ruffled up, on her nest. I would worry about her being egg-bound except when out of her nest 'tent' (she doesn't have a box) she looks great, eating well, never straining, flying around, preening, and no bulging at her vent. Do Keets go broody like hens? Or should I be concerned? Thanks in advance!

Female budgies are notorious for being moody, broody, snippy, and otherwise easily irritated ... especially during breeding.

Your #2 girl sounds perfectly normal to me.

Thanks Kymber! Years of hens tell me what's normal, yet it's still wonderful to hear someone say it's ok
