She will eat a couple safflowers but that's about it. She's eating a lot of the seeds...the only thing I noticed she's not eating as much of is the barley. So I might cut back on it the next go round.

ok good to know as like i said mine never went for safflower and that i would cut back on or just give very very sparsley...(even eliminate) the barley tho ...id leave it ...not mess with that ...as sometimes they get in a mood for something (like us) and sometimes not...give her a chance to get accustomed to the need diet also ...just like getting accustomed to new surrounding when they first come home...

and remember (barley contains 92minerals and 22vitamins) to valuable to cut out ...for sure ...now is it the hullless barley and NOT THE PEARL barley...

and its about ...your on the right track...adjusting ratios...usually you want the two main grains to be the foundation and would have more of them in the mix...with about 1/4 to 1/3 of the extras added...

thats a good approximation...as your adjusting to begin with smile

(research the nutritional value of safflower see what it says) i havent used it in so long as they never went for it so i dont recall...see if its worth adding at all as your other grains may cover what safflower has in it .

Looks great Kim!! mmmmmmm I must say you did a darn good job finding everything and putting it all together. Yoshi must be loving it smile

I hope you see this before ordering from altaloma again just yet Kim....the order I received just recently, ordered on 10/10 has bugs in it. So DON'T order from there until further notice!

Thanks for the heads up kk! I still got plenty so it would be a while and I'm really thinking that Alta Loma better be getting their act together soon or I will refuse to buy from them in the future regardless if they get the problems fixed.

Yea, Illusive, it's hull-less barley. I remembered you and kk had said to get hull-less. As for the safflower, it's got a little fat in there so that was my thinking behind that. She needs to have some fat in there because she burns a lot off from flying around all the time. She's got some crazy flight muscles though! laugh I think there's usually about 4-5 safflower seeds in her daily serving. She usually eats one or two a day. Same goes for the sunflower seeds. Easy to spot if she's ate those. It's hard to keep up with the others.

well sunflower is VERY fattening and oat/groats are also...flax not as much but sounds to me if your feeding those she already has enough fat in her diet...remember please there is good fat and bad fat even for us ...oh heck especially for us humans cuz we cant ever be as active as a animal let alone a bird.

i just notified wise about the seed too as i thought like i said where i didnt hear anything from kk that all was fine again...i dont know if wise ordered yet or not and that if she did im REALLY hoping it will be different when those seeds arrive as wise is in china...wouldnt be very nice.

and i would feel oooooooooooooh SOOOOOOOOO BAD

Sorry I didn't notify sooner. I didn't know until I went to use it last night.
Chances are I might not have even noticed if I DID look at the bags closely when they first arrived last week(i think). The critters may not have hatched until now. Who knows frown
Just glad I didn't use it not knowing and infest everything I have. shocked mad
