Lisa Shea Forums Parakeets General Parakeet Chat Can birds have peanut butter?

I was looking at Lisa's pages on parakeet toys, and one of them was to take the cardboard tube from paper towels, roll it in peanut butter and then in the birds' seed and then hang it up as a toy. So can they have peanut butter?

they LUV peanutbutter....well at least most of them do once they figure it out...careful tho...its fattening for them so a occasional treat is just fine...funny to watch them eat it too and they get a little messy with it so be ready for that...on their faces and their feet LOL.

Ya know, there's been some controversy over letting them chew on or play with tp or paper towel rolls because of the glue used in making them. You might want to think about that.
And I wouldn't use empty tp rolls..eeww germs. If any I think paper towel rolls would be better-you can cut them to size.

OR you could use craft sticks and do the same thing with the pb and seeds

good point as i only commented on the use of the peanut butter id be carful what you put it on also...but happy peanut butter feet giggle...put on a foot toy ...cracking up

I put a 1/4 of a teaspoon or so on a celery stick and Bob goes nuts!! Get it peanut butter...goes nuts! lol
