I recently had a dream where I re-entered my body from above and experienced an odd 'sucking' sensation where suddenly I was back in my body. The funny thing is that this 'wake up' was still within the context of a dream. So i was still dreaming after waking up back in my body.

The physical sensation itself is what sticks out in my mind. I don't recall having felt anything like that in other dreams.

Could this have been astral travel? I have been lucid dreaming for years, but this sensation was entirely different.

Everything I've read about astral travel is that it is separate from dreaming - that you know you're awake. I've never done it, so I can't say from first hand experience, maybe others will no more?

you were sleep dreaming jilly...not astral traveling. Lucid dreaming when not use to it can really shake up some people at first but where you say you been lucid dreaming for years im sure your quite use to it ...and it can be fun or disturbing depending but for sure...its different lol Had you been doing any sort of meditation previous to this experience of thinking you astral traveled jilly...sounds like you were also quite exhausted from maybe recent activities.

this was a different, distinct, unique physical sensation than lucid dreaming.

Anyway, regardless of what it was or was not, it was very strange and cool.
