Is it possible to keep three lovebirds in an appropriate sized cage, or would they fight?

I admittedly don't know a lot about lovebirds, but I would think gender would play a role in their getting along also.

Haven't seen you in a long time KirbnYosh.
You have 3 lovebirds now?

Do you still have Kirby and Yoshi, and if so, how are they doing?

Right now I have my two lovebirds and my two parakeets. My parakeets are doing reallly well, but I have to work on retraining them because I went through a period when I was so so busy. I'm actually working on retraining all of my birds right now with a clicker and only my one lovebird has picked it up a little so far.

But, as to my question, I fell in love with a baby blackheaded lovebird this weekend, and I really want to get him. I talked to my one friend who is a breeder, and she said that she's had odd numbers of lovebirds/cockatiels in one cage before and everything was alright. I just wanted a second opinion

I thought lovebirds bonded in pairs only but any gender will pair up. I think three may be a crowd. ????

I don't recommend putting 3 lovebirds together. Two tend to bond with each other and could possibly gang up on the other or the other would feel left out.

Also, it's not wise to have a blackmasked and a peachfaced cage together until they have shown they get along outside the cage for several weeks with NO squabbles. The peachface tends to be more aggressive and the blackmasked seem to be more laid back. Plus peachfaces are a little bigger and can easily kill a blackmasked.

You need to quarantine as well, so since you have to get or use another cage for the new bird, why not get one that he can have all to himself in case the other birds and him don't get along.

That's my two cents, but it's really up to you.
