I hear what you're saying, Jan, but in a wider sense than "crystals," your perspective can be your own superstition. I agree that it seems more in touch with the realities of the universe, but there is still a mindset.

Nevertheless, I think you've put your finger on the way to avoid being controlled by superstition. Take responsibility for your own life.

The tendency is for all inclusive or negating statements such as "all," "none," "always," "never," and the like, to be false. One can't truthfully make such statements.

Do we really all have superstitions? What about those of us who think in a more scientific-observational way? Are we superstitious or possessing of superstitions as well?

As for me, I can not think of any superstitions I may possess.

Yes they are equally faulty and equally valid.

I have a couple of things that I can't shake. One is the inability to hang my hand over the side of the bed. Ashamed to admit it but I just can't do it for any time at all.

I have managed to conquer my tremendous fear of spiders but can't conquer the hand over the bed thing.

To me phobias are superstitions of sorts.

Hello smile

Yes, I suppose that we not only all have our superstitions, but we also all have our definition of what a superstition is smile

I guess phobias would be a kind of superstition too.

No different from praying to a particular patron saint of expectant mothers, or refusing to put a hat on a bed for the same reason.

Hello smile

I think that there might be something in the 'ritual' superstitions.

It has been shown that people can sometimes be strong or weak, depending on the positive or negative things that are said to them.

I assume that, similarly, things that are associated with positive thoughts or events could also strengthen them, while things that are associated with negative thoughts or events could weaken them.

Thus lucky mascots are born ~ and 'unlucky' superstitions.

Democracy = Anarchy

Democracy = Pirate Ship

Democracy as it is viewed in today's terms is extremely flawed but coming from a long time techy, and I can be fairly assured of a thumbs up from our owner in charge, the internet as it exists in 1995 was fairly democratic but has been going downhill at a steady pace ever since then.

I have to agree with you PDM Democracy Today = Superstition.
