As a new budgie buddy, I'm fascinated by Billie's repertoire and by the possibility that her songs actually mean something. Some things stimulate her to sing:

• My electric shaver
• When I leave the room (disappointment or relief?)
• Certain pieces of music?

I'm not sure about that last one; it's a bit of research I want to do. So that she'd have more music when I'm out of the room, I upgraded my Pandora.com account from free to Pro.

I'm switching "radio stations" between Mary Wells; the Marvelettes, Peter, Paul, & Mary; John Williams, and Johann Sebastian Bach.

Does your parakeet prefer some kinds of music over others?

I'm not sure about music that's on the radio. But Cheeko seems to get chirpy when he can hear the kids cartoons playing. Of course, they're singing on there with the squeaky voices so I'm sure that's why he likes it.

Bob likes country music but what really gets him going is NASCAR! Much to my demise he and daddy watch NASCAR on Sundays and he sits on hubby's knee and hoots it up. Boogity, Boogity, lets go racin boys!

Mine love the Star Spangled banner sung before the race!! lol Doesn't matter who sings it...I guess they are just patriotic boys?? ha ha

Not too keen on NASCAR myself Tess. Just one of those things I've been putting up with for yeeears. LOL

I'm not sure mine like any particular genre of music, or even a particular artist...it's more they enjoy and sing to certain songs more than others.

We play country for my (our) little guy, but he starting singing today when I started our washer and while it was filling up! I found it very humorous and got a nice little video of it.

thats just about summarizing it all...they like anything that shows life around them is going on...anything but quiet or silence...

they need sound...any sound...silence or being too quiet as we all should know...has them thinking a predator may be around...

i was listening to music yesterday. and was playing a little bit of everything. my birds of course made me proud. they like anything by bb king. and the other thing that came on that they went crazy over was sweet jane by lou reed. they of course have other songs they like but those were the 2 that they got all into yesterday. when i first got sophia she went crazy over eternal flame by the bangles and still does.

ok your all whacko lol ...i still think its just the noise as they go nuts over hairdryers ...vacuums....electric razors...and other such noises also ...cartoons even giggle

haha well i already knew i was whacko. its surely not all noise sophia goes crazy over. dante on the other hand..... as long as someone is talking and he can hear them he thinks that they are talking to him. and poor sophia gets so annoyed with his constant yapping and starts yelling at him. she will let him go on for a good 10-20 mins and even will talk to him. but after that shes just like ok shut up ive had enough of you. and god forbid if dante interupts her nap time she lays into him like there is no tomorrow
