whats important is no toys little toes can get stuck or tangled in is very important...some bells this can happen with some chains this can happen with some rotating toys that attach to cage bars if not set high enough so they reach only with their beaks is not good either...

alot of toys are made in china and painted with toxic chemicals...things like that...no toys that can maybe have small pieces bit off and ingested

I make most of my guys toys. It is fun and can be a lot less expensive. Plus you know what they are made from.

I make a lot of their toys too. I think they like them even more than store bought ones. Probably because after a while you know what they like and can make toys accordingly. Mine both love bells, pony beads and tassels, and Ziggy really loves things made with paper.
Neither seem to like things made with wood.

Connor,
What kind of jingle bells are you referring to? I ask because the round jingle bells with the little slits in them are KNOWN TOE CATCHERS.. and are very dangerous. The liberty bell type bells are MUCH safer.

no matter how small you think those bells are Connor folks are telling you that know better that they most certainly can get a toenail or toe caught.

Connor,
THANK YOU for not using those bells any more. If there are any in their cage now, remove them. SO many birds have gotten their toes caught in them, resulting in broken toes, losing a toe, breaking a foot or leg....your bird could play with them for months or even a year and then suddenly the inevitable happens. frown

Many times I'll get a bird toy at the pet store, maybe even on clearance, only because it has many bells or some other parts I would want to make toys with. Then I take them apart and build my own.
Here is a link to a site that sells bird toy parts. I have never bought from them, but I just googled and looked at a few sites and this one looks good. LOTS of different interesting things to build toys with. Prices seem reasonable too..but I didn't get as far as checking out shipping rates. http://www.birdsnestonline.com/cart/core.cgi?p=libells
On that page there is 10 bells for 2 bucks. Browse around for other parts too smile
