Lisa Shea Forums Parakeets General Parakeet Chat budgie or lineolated parakeet?

Trying to decide on what kind of bird for our family. Based on reearch on the internet we are deciding between a standard budgie and a lineolated parakeet, especially in behavior and temperment? How about parrotlet? Definitely looking at hand-raised, hand-fed one.

it sounds like your really not sure about any of these birds...their behaviors ...compatability...life requirements...foods ...cage sizes ...time spent with them...trainability or anything..

My suggestion is ..BEFORE getting anything...do EXTENSIVE research on these birds and thier lifestyles and how they would fit into family life styles...go to a library...talk to vets...research on google...and dont just glance at the litterature...there is a lot at stake here...

I studied parakeets for months before getting one. Let me tell you, it's a lot of work and responsiblity, but a lot of fun! I found out that, even after studying, there was still a lot I didn't know. Cere color often confuses the heck out of me! Illusive is right! (As usual.) You should do a lot of research before getting any kind of bird.

a parrotlett is cute but are notious for their nasty tempers, so i would do some homework on all of them before you decide. i love my budgies!!
