Toony, not all sites have ALL the answers. Trust me. There are some false sites out there that have false information.

SilverRain, congrats to the proud parents and to the arriving baby! Updates would be much appreciated! Waiting is hard, but it's worth it! laugh

There's just one more egg. Pearl (mommy bird) is a small sized cockatiel so it's probably for the best that she only laid 2 eggs. Especially for her first hatching clutch! I don't want her too stressed out.

Two is PERFECT! Best of luck with the 2nd one hatching too. How's mom n dad doing? Is dad helping out like he should?

Looking forward to "watch me grow" pics. It's simply amazing how fast they change and grow. You're lucky to see it first hand. Enjoy and cherish smile

Jessica just wanted to say...your QUITE right..that even includes HERE...besides the more info we collect the more we can try to figure things out using some logic of our own, to hopefully make a well informed decision.

Yes, dad is doing great! Duke and Pearl will take turns sitting on the eggs/baby and Duke is VERY protective and tries to bite my toes when I get too close! ha.
I went home for lunch today to check on everyone and was amazed by how fluffy the little guy got after drying!
Take a look:

Oh, and why wont my pictures show up rather than the link?? (I know I didn't use the right image code in this post, but in my other posts I did.)

Found a small pip in egg #2 yesterday when I got home from work. I should have another baby soon! I really hope everything goes well and mom and dad have those wonderful parenting instincts.

Does anyone know how long after hatching before mom or dad will start to feed the babies? I've been trying to find info on this and I haven't been able to find any. . . and when I have all the answers have been different.

Thanks in advance.

you can tell if mom mostly is feeding by the crop and its size ..im sure she will feed as needed...no worries

Thats the problem! Nothing has been in the chick's crop since it hatched, which means it hasn't been fed at all.... It's been over 24 hours. Should I resort to hand feeding??
