I don't think my bird will talk much anymore? And he's over
a year old now and chances not so great? Should I try again?
I'm going to have extra time sitting with him in the living
room soon next few months. I've ben saying to him Mommy's
not done yet ( when I greet him & I've been away working ect,)
Seems I hear him say Done yet? kinda like a response but less
of that too. It seems he's more interested in me and my \mouth
and wants to give kisses instead. He's been adding a few
slurs & chatter and maybe his own 'language' He still makes
the 'clicking sounds' from 48 hrs.TV program, & mixing sounds
& still PURRS loudly & smoochy sounds/kisses and sometimes
'boy' but not mommy's boy or neep neep or yummmy.
He's very good at whistling ( almost a tune)and I hear him
doing new tunes. my husband does the whistling, not me:)
I see where people use recorders and I don't know to
interduce that to him? But I do have a little hand sony
recorder I could use? He doesn't like certain 'things'
If he sees me 'working them' like he hates the camera
(even with no flash?) If he even hears me getting a
camera OMG So, more patience, consistant or go nowhere?
I could accept the fact if 'no more talking much'
I love my bird & he does other unique things like he
loves to play & fly & glide with me alot& music time
together & tidying up his cage (helping me:) I guess
all play for him:) Or should I teach him to use his
Ladder instead (to his cage in the BR?) RE: another post.
It's a long summer coming & I have plenty of free time:)
Off subject: but I had the Gas company Guy here fixing
my stove? and my bird sitting with me ect. When he saw
the GUY ( he hates repair people coming in the place)
he started making the PURRING sound but almost like a
growling DOG noise-like eek and loudly! I was shocked
and this is the second time he's done that.We don't hAVE
A DOG OR ON tv EITHER! I noticed he did this a few weeks
ago with the dish-washer guys? but I thought I was hearing
things but today he Growled shocked OK joking don't tell me
to teach him to bark! anyway hope I'm not posting too much?
But was wondering RE: talking guess we're a litle nutty in CA:)

Sounds like you're having fun! I always duck when I hear/see a camera coming out too...no reason our babies shouldn't be camera shy too.

Have a great Friday!

Well I must say your little budgie has got you trained!! to spoil him! lol It's ok though. We all do that, I think!

I don't think it's too late to re-teach chicki anything. As long as you spend time with him he will learn things.

Also, he may have his own version of what you want him to say. It may not sound perfect, but you will know what he means. When your teaching him to say something, it helps to say it the exact same way, every time you say it, over and over for short sessions. They get bored easily. Mine get rowdy and loud, making their own fun sounds when they get tired of me wanting them to do things! Let them set the pace.

If you're a little "nutty", I wouldn't go apologizing for it!! lol. It happens to the best of us!

*S* You guys make me smile. "If you're nutty and you know it clap your hands!" LOL

Buttercup was one full year old this January and I just began teaching him to talk. I spent a lot more one on one time with him. He began reaching for my mouth too. I know this is the cue that he wants to hear it better. Now he can talk up a storm and learn just anything. Well, before he took off.
