UPDATE!

First off...I apologize for not getting pictures up. I know I said I would get them up in just one second, but I had trouble getting the pics loaded onto my computer and then I had to work. Anyway, here's the UPDATE...

Saturday: The new caget arrived! Hooray! My dad and I put it together and my mom took pictures. I moved Jazz into the new, bigger cage, and then I moved Roberta and Riley into Jazz's old cage. I kept Tuffy in the smallest cage, since he is just one bird. He will be trained first. I've decided that training one at a time would be best. So, in time, Tuffy will be introduced to Jazz first when he is ready.

Sunday (Today): Jazz really doesn't know what to do with himself. He has so much room now for one budgie, even though he will be joined by three more soon. He is still being himself, talking and such. He just can't play as easily. I need to get him some rope perches and some ladders. My boyfriend and I will be shopping tomorrow for those things. Another thing, he doesn't seem to like eating out of his new dishes. All he has eaten is his honey treat. Is there any way I can encourage this? I've moved the dishes close to him, so that he doesn't have to climb all the way to the other side of the cage to get to it. I've been watching him. His poop looks normal and doesn't indicate malnourishment. Is this normal for him not to eat from a new dish? Please, comment!

I will get pics up as soon as I can! Thanks! :]

New cage arrived! Yaay! How big is the new cage? If it is a good size cage I would like to recommend getting a boing?? My guys LOVE their boing, and I think Jazz would be able to get around on it very well. Kind of like a spiral staircase leading from top floor almost to the bottom? This is the one I got,and I see it's on sale
http://www.bird.com/item/wrapped-rope-fun/520019/ Can't beat that price! wow! I have a perch placed just under the boing so they can play with the bell without having to hang upside down. Altho they like to do that too! LOL There are also lots of other toys etc. on bird.com that are very reasonably priced. If you click on toys for small birds and sort by price there are even quite a few for under a buck.

As for Jazz not eating from new dish..he'll catch on smile Any reason you can't just give him his old dish?

Happy shopping today smile Let us know what goodies ya got LOL

Maybe put his honey treat in his new bowl if his old bowl isn't workable in the new cage. (?)

I love that boing! I've always wanted one (for the keets, haha) and never knew what they were called.

Here is a picture of the cage that I bought...

http://www.birdscomfort.com/flight_bird_cage.html

It is actually white. The size of it is on the side of the picture. I will take a picture of the actual one that I have and then put it up. :]

The boing sounds like a great idea. I laughed when I read the post. I was like, "What the heck is a boing?" Then I saw it and just couldn't stop laughing. :3 My boy and I went shopping. I got two big latters, two cement perches, and three rope perches--they bend. Jazz is starting to use them. He is also beginning to eat now. :] On Monday, I couldn't stop crying, because there was undigested seed in his poop, which indicates starvation or his digestive system is messed up. I was debating whether or not to take him to the vet, since he was acting normally. My mom was trying to calm me down, saying how she thought that he was adjusting to his new house. His poop is normal again now that he has begun to eat. I was so worried! My mom asked, "What are you going to do when you have a baby someday?" That's a good question, but I have a while before I have to start thinking about an actual baby. >.< Anyway, I'm just glad that Jazz is back to saying that he is a pretty boy and a pretty budgie. Haha!

HERE ARE THE PICTURES OF THE NEW SWEETIES!(Let me know if you have any opinions on gender. It is hard to tell right now, since they are babies.) --->>>

This is Tuffy. He bites the hardest. My mom and I have been nicknaming him Birdzilla or Kujo! Haha! I will be training him first. I think he has a beautiful yellow color. :]

This is gentle little Riley. He doesn't bite, even though he is a very scared and frail little guy. He seems to be bonded with Roberta, but we'll see.

And last, but not least, this is Roberta. She is a very beautiful girl. Her eyes look so gentle. She is a tough cookie though. She bites as well, but not as hard as Tuffy. :] Her natural green color surprises me every time I see her. She is just so beautiful!

Here are all three of the little boogers huddling for safety from the mean giants who had just clipped their wings! :P

That's that! laugh I'll get an updated picture of Jazz up soon! I took pictures of him after I took pictures of the new arrivals, but I didn't think the pics of Jazz were good enough. I didn't capture his white face or his cere like I wanted to. Anyway, new pics will come soon! Thanks for all the support!

Jazz and Jess

P.S. I started a parakeet journal! laugh I'm excited!

Awww they're all so pretty Jess! And I love the new cage! Great!

About the undigested seed in Jazz's poo? You might want to get him checked out. Could mean all sorts of things. Google undigested seed in budgies poop and you'll see.
Are you SURE it was in his poop? How many seed poos did you see?
I'm asking because I saw what I THOUGHT was seed poos on cage floor some time ago, and it freaked me out. Come to find out it was just from Levi regurgitating to a toy and it fell to the floor! I think he was around 8-9 mos old I first saw him regurgitate to a toy. THAT was new to me too at the time. lol
Does Jazz regurgitate to toys etc at all yet?
So anyway, keep an eye on Jazz's poops, and if you see any more seed poos get him to vet for a check up. And keep the others away from him til you know for sure what's going on.
Also in case you hadn't thought of it, don't let Jazz and the others share toys. Til quarantine is over for the newbies and u know Jazz is ok.

Kksuns, I think that Jazz was actually passing undigested seed. Because, he pooped on my shoulder when he was sitting there and there was a single undigested seed in it. I freaked out, of course! However, he hasn't passed anything abnormal in the past few days. He is acting normally, playing and talking. I know that parakeets can hide their symptoms though. It scares me...if I see anything else, then he is going to the vet immediately. Jazz hasn't regurgitated anything as far as I know. He rubs his head on his toys, but no regurgitation. Jazz is eating and drinking normally now, which I think has turned his poop back to normal. I think it was a bit stressful for him to be moved into such a large cage. Now that I have ladders and more rope perches I think it relieves him to know that he can get around without having to attempt to 'fall with style' to the other side of the cage. :] As for the sharing of the toys, there is no sharing. I am strict about keeping them separate. After my mom is in the other room with the newbies, I say, "WASH YOUR HANDS!" I feel a bit bad though, because Jazz can hear them in the other room. I usually put bird sounds up on my computer for Jazz, so I don't think he can tell which is which---I mean, if the other birds in the other room are real or not. Sometimes, he'll freak out and do his happy head-bobbing dance and chirp back at them and other times he is melancholy about it as if he is excepting that the other birds in the other room are just a computer. Poor guy...hopefully the introductions will go smoothly. :] It's only been twelve days though, so I'm not rushing.

BLR, THANK YOU! laugh I especially like the picture where Riley is sitting on the bear. :]

Good job Jess! It's good to hear you are so diligent about keeping them in separate rooms, no sharing, and hand washing between handling. smile
I think every little thing that seems "off" freaks us out and makes us worry! So you're not alone! lol

UPDATE: I held Tuffy just a few minutes ago. I captured him in a towel and held him, then I held him in my hand, which he bit, and then ended up slowly opening my hand to where he could fly away if he wanted to. I held very still and he sat there. When my mom came into the kitchen, he inched toward my chest and snuggled into me. He doesn't like movement so far when I'm holding him. He thinks someone else is going to grab him. At times, he fluttered away. My mom thought it was a riot when I was scrambling on my knees to get the little guy. Haha! So funny...I guess. I was sweating afterward. He almost got lost in a closet and I had to grab him. I only held him for ten minutes when he sat in my hand--a record so far. :] I decided to end on a good note today. I put him back when he sat still in my hand. Now, he can tell Riley and Roberta that I'm a crazy giant, because I ended up not eating him, but just held him close to my heart. Haha!
