I read parakeet rescue.I hope things work out for Sparky and
thatagirl. Also sending 'shouts out' Sparky's in Seattle Wa.?
I was raised in Portland Ore. Beautiful west coast & use to love
to go to Seattle. Reading Thatagirl's story RE: Rescue reminded
me of my first parakeet 1995. I was completely disabled from
back injury & could Not walk or sit at all then.It was a Hot 107
day in Sept. My husband found the little green bird out-side our
apartment and brought him inside & showed me the bird. Oh MY.
I could only turn my head very slowly and just look at the bird.
While my husband rushed out to go buy a cage & things needed,
I remember looking at the little guy & wondering 'oh geeesh'
and he was looking AT me. All of a sudden a Mariah Carey song
came on the radio 'Fantesy' and the bird began to sing like
the most beautiful singing? Like 'birdie angels' well it only
got better and Chat was the most perfect bird (for us) to
have started out with and he was the best! I was bed-ridden
and house bound till 2000 -2001. I am just fine Now. I always
think of that Song and also Elton John's song "someone Saved
my life tonight" Also I just know God sent us 'that bird'
We rescued Chatter- Box but ( actually he recued me)
That bird kept me 'going' In 2000 I got Chat a girl-friend
(named her Idgy) <--from the movie green tomatoes:)
Idgy was bright yellow. And <teasing> a shout out to
Buttercup? But I'de tell Idgy she smelled like butter:)
and she always 'waddled around' ( she was very different
from Chatter box. Well after all the big cages & nesting
boxes & everything? Idgy refused to be a 'wify' no no no!
Chat would even go in the nesting box but Idgy said "no"!
They both Loved to travel with us on vacations and
loved to fly in the Hotel rooms. Chatter Box was a great
flyer and Idgy was always a little wreakless and would
land sideways or up side down. She was always problematical
RE: her wings. Idgy had a way actually 'SMILING'
Laughing at' Lots of humor and she always had the last say:)
Anyway If it hadn't been for my husband finding Chatter-Box?
I doubt if I would HAVE EVER had any birds! And I wonder If I
would have have made it through THAT really challenging
time (many years) But oh the joy I had? and all the beautiful
SINGING & more:) My husband had a special bond with Chat
and he'de call his name? and Chat would just come fly to
him (no matter where he was) 'just like a dog' <teasing>
They're all so special:) and we are too:)!!!

aaadraine, what an impressive story. You have really weathered some severe storms. I am so happy little Chatterbox found your husband. I wonder how long Chat had to sit outside your apartment waiting for your hubby to come find him. LOL He had a job to do and wanted to get to it. Namely YOU.
