I tried brocolli, brussel sprouts, carrots, tomatoes, all chopped up, in between the cage, in a dish and any way you can think. All she wants is millet.. now I have been keeping it out of her cage until night time.. but she just waits until then to eat that. I would take it out completely but I have heard they will starve themselves...

I know I haven't had time to come on a lot lately but I will really appreciate help. Thank you every one. I miss reading about all the Budgies!!!!!! smile

have you tried organic baby food? Gently sprinkle a little millet on top of it. At the very least, she will get some baby food ingested as she gets the shell off of the millet seed. Does she eat normal seed or are you saying right now her diet is 100% millet?

She picks at her regular seed, and in the seed I blend a fruit and veggies mix and a parakeet snack mix. But yes the rest is just millet. and she screams bloody murder when she has to wait until night ot get it... lol it has gotten out of hand. lol And I was so excited when she started eating it...

Have you ever tried using kabobs?

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=5791

They worked great for me in the very beginning when I started introducing them to veggies. Try putting broccoli and baby carrots on one kabob and hang it by his food dish, he may start nibbling on it and start liking the taste of the veggies smile

Have you tried offering him a piece of broccoli by hand? This worked with my first keet Bernie. I just put a whole piece of broccoli by his face and he just started eating it.

When I leave a big piece of romaine lettuce on the roof of their cage, they come running towards it and eat it in amount of minutes, it goes quick. You can also hang it in the cage, that's a big hit with my birds.

Keep trying, I'm sure eventually he will try them once he realizes how good they taste smile Good luck!

corn on the cob? That is the first thing I ever got mine to eat. Now all 8 of them can strip one clean in no time.

i'm still stuck on chickweed. actually, that's wrong, the quartet (as my niece has dubbed them) seemed to enjoy squishing baby peas from the garden. except tringkit, he chased them around like little green soccer balls! LOL! will try again tomorrow and see if he will eat his food instead of playing with it. smile
