It has been so hot here lately, although I am greatful for the central air, it can still get somewhat warm. I was wondering if keets can have something other than water to drink, something nice on a warm day? Also is it safe for them to have fruit that is still partially frozen? I have lots of frozen strawberries, blackberries and bluberries.(My father in law has a large garden)But when these fruits unthaw they get mushy. What can I do with them that they will like?

I don't see why they can't have them frozen. I think they can have frozen juice pops too. Keet friendly juice of course :)Hey maybe you could try freezing some berries in little ice cubes, just plain ice cubes even,to see what they do with them? Might be interesting to see what they do with them. Do they like berries?

They love veggies but I have never tried any type of berry. I like the idea if using them as ice cubes in the water. I think Ill try that and see what they do. Thanks

Dix&Miss, Strawberries are good for them BUT they HAVE to be ORGANIC. Regular strawberries are grown with tons of pesticides and there is no way you could ever wash them well enough to be safe for our birds to eat.
But if you buy organic, from what I hear lots of birds love them. I've never tried them with my guys tho.

the fruits are fine, this is how i feed frut to my birds as well smile mushy doesnt change the nutritional content just the texture so long as they arent rotten they fine.

and yes they can drink things other than water, but water needs to always be available in their cage even if something else is offered, the water should never leave the cage.

i give my birds juice all the time, freshly made (we have a power juicer) and also store bought, but it needs to be 100% with no additives, no added sugar, no perservatives and so on... otherwise it defeats its purpose and they can not process those chemical additives.

i also give my birds non caffiene tea, this does not mean decaffienated tea which is regular tea that has had the caffience decreased, its not caffiene free, nothing that has caffiene can ever be caffiene free smile

green teas and the such that naturally have no caffiene (herbal teas are good)

chamomile tea or mint tea that say naturally decaffeinated are correct choices then? i have a green tea here that the ingredients are... young green tea leaves $ natural lemon flavor. it says "the caffeine content of our green tea is approximately 20 milligrams per cup. black tea contains 80 to 100 milligrams per cup.......tea bags are made from oxygen bleached material". if the only ingredients are green tea leaves and lemon, wouldn't that make green teas caffeinated? i have another brand that is not decaf either. could you give me some names of green teas that are naturally decaffeinated if you have time, please? i would appreciate it. smile
