No, it aint mine frown
But I LOVE parakeets. I've had several in the past years. However, I never knew how to train them, so I could not really enjoy their company to the fullest. They only sat on my finger--that's about it. But recently I've been doing some research on them, and found out that you can train them to trust you and they can be such lovable pets! Now I really, really, really want to get a Budgie again!!!!
Unfortunately I already gave the cage away and everything, so I'll have to start from scratch...

i have alot of fun with mine! i am using a clicker to train my two grown gals. they have learned a lot of tricks! froot loop throws hoops, ozzy does "flipperoos" (leaning forward and going all the way around until she is back standing up, they "sing for mom", do "big stretches and yawn" and we keep finding new things to try out. it is good for them to be out of the cage and because you are spending quality time with them! their antics are a hoot to watch and soon they have figured out that you are wanting something, they start carrying on like crazy! don't let anyone ever tell you they are "just birds". they are much, much more!
you are showing the symptoms of having caught the infamous... "bird fever"!! hit your pet shop and have at er!! lol. if you do, you have to tell us and show pics. we love pictures!!

AWWW, sounds exciting!
Actually, I don't quite have a job, so I'll probably have to wait a while before I can get a cage, the bird and all that kinda stuff...
I sure know my parents aint gonna buy me another parakeet, because they think like I used to--that they are useless and can't learn much. I'll have to take matters in my own hands to prove them wrong! haha
But as for now, I can just learn more about budgies from this forum and other places. So when the time comes to get my lil' parakeet, I'll be well-equipped on how to train and care for it. smile
I do think I have the "bird fever," because I keep having dreams like I have a parakeet! This must mean something!!!! hahaha
Patience is what I need right now... laugh

it is awsome that you are doing all this research ahead of time. you certainly have my respect for your hard work. it will defiantly pay off for you in the long run. by the time you get your little beastie, you will be more than ready to take VERY GOOD care or it. you should be very proud of yourself. smile quite a while back, i made a statement about having "bird fever". it has become one of the threads that has continued and we have had alot of fun with it. you may not have your keet yet, but after seeing all the work you have been putting into preparing for one... i thnk that you are able to hit that thread too! LOL. keep up the good work. smile
