Has anyone ever fed their birds tofu or edible flowers? If so, where can you buy flowers that are safe for them to eat?

edible flowers are ok, the link below is a list of safe and not safe plants for them to eat.

id stay away from tofu, it would be protein over load, an over load of protein in the body leads to gout.

why not try soybeans? beans in general are very good for them, i like to sprout beans just til a little sprout shows, extremly healthy and they love it.

also if there is a whole foods store near you, they have them in the produce section for $3 !!!

Do you sprout the regular dry bean mix that you get in the grocery store? And how?

I noticed the wesite listed bamboo-- Can you put a small potted plant in the cage, if its in a safe type of soil and pot?

id avoid putting dirt in the cage, they tend to eat it and it will draw bugs SOOO fast, i tried putting wheatgrass in the cage in a platter and it drew so many little bugs so i quit doing that i keep the platter outside and just give them wheatgrass in a dish.

they do sell bamaboo perches though, i think petsmart has some...

what you could do ... if cover the soil with rocks, rocks heavy enough that they cant lift them. most nursery's sell rocks for this purpose, id get polished rocks so they dont eat them by breaking pieces off, that can be very dangerous.

try that and see if it works to keep the bugs out and id use some grapefruit seed extract when you water the plant, mixed into the water to keep it from getting moldy, which can also be a huge problem and make them sick.

id put about 30 drops in 1cup of water for that purpose.

you can also put about 2-3 drops in the water 3 days in a row then pure water 3 days in a row without it

this will help cleanse their system.

apple cider vinegar also works the same way, but different ratios, for the plant id 2 parts apple cider vinegar and 1 part water

in the drinking water id do 1 part ACV and 3 parts water. 3 days in a row then 3 days pure water, 3 days with ACV and 3 days pure water and so on ...

it must be apple cider vinegar not any other kind of vinegar.
