what smart birds these keets are.

a couple of hours ago i was sitting on the couch. the birds were fine. the were yapping at each other and singing. next thing i know i hear Topaz make all the noise she could. VERY LOUD BIRDIE SHE CAN BE. Topaz was on the side of the cage closest to me and Sky was on the opposite side. i looked up and said 'Topaz calm down, what in the world are you making such noise for?' she was wanting my attention to HELP SKY!!! Sky had been playing with one of the toys i made and got a nail hooked, somehow, on a small piece of frayed hemp. she was standing on the rope perch so she wasn't hanging or anything. she was fine otherwise, besides trying to get her nail loose. i went over to help her and then cut the hemp shorter.
it looked to me like Sky was playing with the toy and pulled the piece of hemp over to the rope and hold it with her claw and continue chewing on it, as they always do.

i am glad that Topaz was, pretty much, YELLING at me to HELP SKY! what a smart bird to get my attention like that.

they have been happy go lucky since it happened. singing away and playing in their mansion. grin

oh darn it!!! i didn't even think about that. i will give them both some NOW tho. they are so special that they deserve it anyway. grin
thanks for reminding me. i don't give it to them A LOT since it isn't all that healthy. Sky loves to play with her ball toys, so she gets those as a treat more often. Topaz hasn't started playing with the ball toys yet.

it is incredible!!! keets are a flock bird (as we all know!) and they help each other. you are a dominant bird in your "flock" so it is almost like a brother comming to tell mom his sister is tangled in the ping pong paddle string! lol!
for all they may fight and squabble, they watch out for each other. ozzy (non biting) stands in front of froot loop (draws blood reg basis) and threatens me when i come to clip froot loops claws. things that make you go hmmm...

That is such a sweet story! I've heard stories like this before, I think Helwa has a similar one. They really are sooo smart and know when someone is in trouble!
