Hi All,

Here's Elmer (hope I did this right and his photo actually shows up). Now that baseball season is over, he is very much enjoying soccer, particularly British Premier League (no idea why). Will have more photos soon of his goofball antics. Need some advice though. I've had him for almost 3 months and he is very hesitant to even let me touch him. He's a very happy bird, will sit on my finger in his cage if I don't move it. Any suggestions on how to earn his trust? He eats spray millet while I hold it, and I can stroke his chest very gently, but no progress in 2 months. He's very mistrustful, but has never been mishandled, abused, tormented, etc. help.

Are his wings clipped?

Elmer is gorgeous! How old is elmer now?

I almost hate to mention this.....but I'm not sure Elmer is a he, looks kind of like a she. I'm certainly no expert (so what do I know!), just what I've seen on here and other sites. Here's a couple to check out (with pictures) and see what you think....

Elmer's wings were clipped when I first got him, but haven't been clipped since and they look like they're full now. I leave the cage door open but he has no desire to go exploring. I'm not sure how old he is, when I got him the guy had no idea, but I know he was young, maybe 3 months old. It doesn't show in the photo, but his beak has a pale blue tinge to it, although I'm preparing myself for the possibility I might have to re-name him Elmira

Kind of sounds like Justyce's cere. A bit of blue with white around the nostrils.



If there's white around the nostrils it's female. If it's full pink, purple or blue with no white it's male.

Why don't I see Elmers picture?

Sorry about that! I removed the photo of Elmer from my signature so it wouldn't take up so much room (I'm new at this). Here's another photo of Elmer hiding behind his spinning mirror. We call it "up periscope" He crouches underneath, then pops up, looks around, and crouches down again, jabbering the whole time.
