Lisa Shea Forums Parakeets Keet Stories and Photos Inara escaped from her cage!!...and INTO CC's!!!

OMG people!!! Yes it's true!! We went out for the afternoon and came back to find Inara IN Caleb's cage!
Somehow she undid HER food clip-on tray thingy and then HIS and got inside and hung out with him! So amusing AND bloody scary!
We worried ourselves silly for a few days about infection and virus' and after another few days of both the birds screaming at each other through the walls we thought... scr*w it! We have no idea how long they were together but we were gone for the whole day (about 6 hours)
They are getting on SO well... Caleb is feeding her and not humping everything in sight and SHE is holding her own, not allowing him to get the upper hand!

Also... is it my imagination or is SHE starting to look kinda like a HE? hummm... The cere is slighty blueish in these pics but live it looks pretty golden/yellow/brown.

Hi, You sound as if you know about parakeets. I just bought my
self on a week ago, all he does is sits n his perch. When I
got him he wasnt afraid of me, today he is. Any suggestions?

and inara looks more female to me simply because of the tan crust on her cere, but there is pretty blue in the pics so who knows.

id say if she is dominating AND Has the tan crusty cere then she is a she

That is an amazing story! I have keyring locks on mine and for good measure I use plastic zip ties to hold the bottom of the cage down. I would have loved to see the video Mrs Hudini! Handsome couple by the way.
