Hi everyone, I'm new and I have two keets amazon and skye.I've had them just two weeks. And I just started singing and talking to them and I don't want to get my hopes up but they seem to be moving the beak like they r talkin and very few sound r coming out but sounds none the less. And when I say give a kiss and making kissing noises they kiss is this real or just a coincidence. I am having great success with hand training. Well I can put my hand in the cage change food and water move the perch to their feet I even got them to get on the perch once or twice separately of course. But they really look like they want to talk. Has this happened to anyone else or are there any other signs of talking to look for thanx in advance to anyone who answers.
Mine move their beaks all the time. I thought when I first got them that they were going to talk also but unfortunately that is not a sign. I never did get any of my keets to talk and since I have 10 I quite trying. If you have more than one it will be a lot harder but I guess not impossible from what I have heard. Males are better talkers but it is not impossible to teach a female and some birds will never talk to matter how hard you try. I think its probably luck of the draw. Otherwise sounds like your having fun with your birds. And welcome.
Yes - sometimes they grind their beaks (a sign of contentment) and sometimes they make this noise like a growl (which I think means "let's play" more than it means "back off").
As far as tweeting, I think they'll make more and more noise as they get used to their surroundings.
I've had my 2 for a month today and they are definitely more chatty than when we first got them. all day long, sonny is tweeting and warbling and cher usually only does her screeching sounds at sonny when he annoys her, lol.
