Hi, I have a budgie (not in my picture) who's tame and I think he's got a lot of talking potential (he babbles all day to himself, despite the other two birds who completely ignore him). I've noticed he can make all kinds of noises. However, due to the other 2 bird's presence, will it be unlikely that he will talk? I keep him in a separate cage because my blue bird kinda bullies him, but the cages are 4 inches next to each other.

Lamonsas, you probably talk to your parakeets now don't you. If you just talk to them in lower tones and tell them the same sentences like: "your so cute aren't you" or "Good birdy". They can say some things easier. Words with B and D and K and S in them are easier. My guy's say M's really easy. Mine pick up the sentences that I say when I am just talking to them affectionately the fastest. A real talker can pick up something you say in about two weeks. Just say it every time you pass the cage.

if it is a whistle it has to be the same whistle all the time. It is easier to copy if you teach one thing at a time. You can do the same whistle over and over. At the same time you can just say something loveing to them every time you see them. They love the sound of soft words with love in them. They learn that the quickest. At least my guys do. The more you talk to them the more they will talk to you.
