This is an opportunity for all of us who believe that Biblical Prophesy has been fulfilled to showcase our knowledge of such fulfillment. It would be great if the examples were full of facts rather than vague symbolism. That would really be convincing.

I suspect that if such evidence could be laid out in a manner that was convincing (say with dates, concrete references, non-subjective events etc.), many of the skeptics here would be left in the dust.

I'm sincerely interested in seeing some of these prophesies explained in a manner worthy of consideration. I've read quite a few books on the subject, but have found nothing convincing.

Please...take up the challenge anyone. It would be interesting.

Here is a very clear example of Biblical Prophesy being fulfilled:

Yes, it surely would!
I'm looking forward to the results.

Here's a link to a Bible Prophesy page from another thread. Shall we get to digging in here to see what sort of prophesy fulfillment we're dealing with?

Well, that does seem to be a lot of fulfilled prophecy.

I can react in one of two ways now, I suppose;

~ Acknowledge that something mysterious & miraculous is going on and accept the Bible as God's special book.

~ Ask if these prophecies might actually have been added or amended, after the event; wonder if they were so general that anything could have been read into them; assume that educated guesses, based on available information, were as likely to be true then as they are now.

Or I could sit on the fence and say that I don't know, which of course, I don't ~ though I tend to lean towards the second option.

Can anyone give me really good reason why I should, instead, lean towards the first?

hmmmmmm... Comes the 'Akasha Library' into mind.

"One method for accessing our personal "Reconnections" is through a communications technique known as "Channeling." Also known throughout history as "Prophecy," "Inspiration," or "Mediumship," this simple (yet profound) skill provides a direct access into what has been termed "The Akasha" (or the Akashic Records). These archives are a stream of consciousness that flows near or around every person. In them are contained all of the knowledge, images, and miscellaneous information anyone could ever need.

In a way, the Akasha is a like an INNER NET, into which an individual consciousness can gain ACCESS. Once we have "logged on," we are free to employ SEARCH ENGINES (called Spiritual Guides) that will help us explore whatever themes or topics we desire."

Source:

"The Akasha is said to be the library of all events and responses concerning Consciousness in all realities. Every lifeform therefore supposedly contributes and has access to the Akashic Records. It is claimed that to gain access into the Akashic Records, every individual human can become the physical medium, and various techniques (e.g., yogic breathing, visualizations) can be employed to quiet the mind, become a "witness", and achieve the focused, preconscious state necessary to access the Records."

Source:

Well, well, well.... It is written in the Puranas that there will be 10 Avataras (Reincarnations of highly developed spiritual beings) the 9th was the Buddha, the tenth "Kalki" - "the white one", is yet to come.

Who knows?

What difference could it make?

Could one change the course of the earth, of the worlds destiny?

I don't think so - If so one would simply 'know'.

There is 'something out there' thats for sure.

There are plenty of people who had spiritual, out of body expieriences...me included.

I think that the ability, as it said by many, to 'see' or say 'read the aksha records', one has to 'finetune' ones perceptions.

Just think of all the distractions, or 'perceptual pollution' we're exposed to day, by day, every second, there is something going on oin our minds.

TV, Internet, Games, Music our so called 'social contacts'.. the lot.

It's all polluting our perception!

Like in those days when I used to travel through India, trekking alone! In the Himalayas, my perception became so finetuned that, coming 'back to civilisation', I was feeling quite disturbed from all this manmade audio and visual pollution that highly distorts ones perception.

After a Fasting, Cleansing & Meditation retreat it became even more intense!

The very positive thing is that one becomes at least much more stable, calm and centered and the inner chatter of thoughts flying around and flinging one around in this world comes, with some expirience, to a standstill.

Then there isn't just Nothing - however here are highly individual expiriences to be witnessed - I would call it with some certainty, insight in to the "Akasha Library"..

Anyone here has had similar expiriences?

Galacticus:

There are some posters here who speak of the spiritual experience of the wildnerness, or mountain, or far from land on the water. Or high in the sky, or in space. Or floating in streams of consciousness.

I've never really pursued the fasting, cleansing, and meditation, Galacticus. As a hypoglycemic, I tend to get very "unspiritual" when I fast. But that may well be an excuse.

So I don't have experiences to report (other than "people" I've met), but I have many times "sensed" something. And I'm okay with mysticism and "magic." I'm kind of like a kid in that - I don't have to know all the whats and whys.

But what I sense gives me a feeling of optimism and hope, rather than one of fear and skepticism.

That may well be foolish, but one chooses how one lives.

There is alot of fulfilled Bible prophecy. One of my favorites is when Jesus prophocied that not a single stone of the temple of jerusalem would be left standing on the other:

"Mt 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

In history we see that when the Roman's conquered the city of Jerusalem, the fire they'd set was so hot it melted the gold coating the temple's walls. The gold ran into the cracks in the stone and hardened there after the fire was extinguished. Since Roman soldiors pretty much made most of thier money by pilliging, they took the temple apart stone-by-ston to get the gold which had run in the cracks.

this site shows some of the hundreds of Bible prophocies: 100prophecies.org

I find it interesting that no other book, even a religious book, has prophocies in it. The Bible is the only book with prophocies, and all of them, except for the ones that we know are in the future,(aka, End Time prophocies, the Tribulation, ect) have been fulfilled one way or the other.

And yet there is a very nice standing wall in Jerusalem from that same temple where millions of people visit every year.

So another prophesy debunked.

Speaking of that holy Western Wall - there was this one man who visited the wall every day for 30 years without fail to pray.

A reporter from Time Magazine caught up with him and asked him about this. "What do you pray when you are here?"

The man answered, "I pray for peace between the Jews and Arabs. I pray for peace in the world. I pray for an end to Anti-Semitism."

The reporter asked him how it made him feel that after 30 years of praying these things haven't happened.

And the man replied, "Like I'm talking to a xxxxxxx wall!"

Obviously you haven't looked too closely at other books. The Qu'ran is filled with prophesies too. Especially the one about the end times. They will have a great big war just like your Tribulation, and Allah will come and save everyone, etc. The only difference between the Christian version and the Muslim version is that the Muslims win theirs.
