Baron my dream horse

Baron will be 24 next month. He is a tall, husky and shiny black Tennesse Walking Horse. He has been the show stopper and excellent trail horse. He is also king of the castle. He gently but firmly teaches younsters or even oldsters how to behave in this barn. He is amazing to watch. I've learned a lot on horse training from him. Other horses adore him and feel very safe and comfortable when he is near. I can't begin to tell you how many stories I have of him. When I was little, all I wanted was a big black horse like Fury or the Black Stallion. Well as an adult, I knew the stallion would have to be gelded, but that was what made Baron my perfect dream horse. Baron is suffering with arthritis now in both his front feet. It is so severe, it is now developed into ringbone. Poor guy is miserable. I had some steroid injections done, and although they made a world of difference, they only lasted 6 weeks. I was hoping for 4 months. The cost is much to high for such a short time. He is back on bute, an antiflammatory and pain reducer, like our asperin. We'll see if it helps at all. This lovely spring may bring with it a heart crushing decision.

He is lovely ~ Black Beauty.
I'm sorry to hear that he is suffering. This must be so hard for both of you.

Ahhhh! This is hard to read. He is beautiful and I can certainly tell that you love him very much, and it looks like he's got his eye on you! Jeez, it is so very hard to make that decision! You are right when you said heart crushing.

But out of that love and adoration you will know what to do. There are no words to say that will help you or make you feel better. Just, my heart goes out to you!

I know. It will be heart breaking, but I'll be doing this for him, not for me. The pictures are pretty fuzzy for some reason, but he is truly my black beauty. Thank you for your thoughts and support. I'll get through this with your help and kindness. All creatures great and small, like the famous book, they are loved by all.

Thank you aaa, I appreciate your thoughts and kindness. He was an awesome animal and I hated to see him leave this earth, but mostly for selfish reasons. He was certainly my Tennessee Love. I like that.

Well Maysy, I am down to two now, but I'm beginning to get the inkling for a third. Those are cute names.
