Very cute pictures! I like the one of him smashing his face up against the bars in the last picture.

As Jloc said, those cages aren't made all that great. So that's no fault of yours, but it makes a prime example of why you need the right bar spacing. Anybody who still thinks it's ok to buy a teil cage for your keets...that is why!

Good luck with your baby keets smile

thanks dyers! Yeah I know the bars are to far spaced. I am planning on getting a new cage but, for now this one has to work. It is the cage that was given to me when I got Freddy , lucy & Frosty. I want to get a nice big flight cage.

1/2 inch is the maximum size. 5/8 is only a little bit bigger, but you'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes. Plus, you have to draw the line somewhere right? 5/8 might very well be ok but it's pushing it, and you wouldn't want to put your keets in unnecessary danger would you?

I guess to sum it up: If you said 5/8 was ok because it was just a tiny bit bigger then you could say "well 3/4 is just a tiny bit bigger than 5/8, so that's ok too". Then you'd start gettin into all kinds of trouble.

It's close and many people have 5/8ths, it's just some keets are smaller than others and there have been report of keets getting stuck or getting out with 5/8ths, and not with 1/2 inch, so most people just feel 5/8ths is a tiny bit too big. There is no way a keet could get stuck in 1/2, but as I was saying earlier most cages have a bit bigger openings in certain places like on the sides, so the 1/2 inch cages just barely have small enough to keep them from getting out in thsoe side bars, and the 5/8ths have even bigger openings on those sides which end up being big enough for them to get stuck in. Most keet can't get out of 5/8ths but if there is any bigger openings in the cage you will have problems, its just best to stick with 1/2. Anyways best of luck and best wishes everyone. Jloc
