yes and i dont see that as a big deal....i have the cage sitting on top of a tv tray all i do is lift the clips to unlock the bottom and then lift the top off and set it down on the floor...the bird doesnt panic at all...takes literally 3 seconds to do it...so much ado about nothing ...lol...just lift it up set it down then take the entire bottom to sink and swish swish ...ten minutes time and you have a THOROUGHLY clean bottom, as there is not the usually tight nooks and crannies where bacteria can hide and, not just changing out paper or whatever..

sometimes folks i guess just have a hard time with new concepts...pull out trays has always been the scheme.

kathy im telling you and im sure others who have this cage would also tell you ...its nothing...some complain the doors are noisy welllllll guess what ..that click sound is there to let ya know its securely closed ...again im sorry im just a hagen nut i guess cuz there is so many positive features of this cage..its light weight ..all horizontal bars...the security of knowing under that powder coating the metal used is like 99.99999 non toxic..giggle..good deep clear plastic seed guard..big double doors you can rig to open OUT instead of IN to make a platform bridge so simply its crazy...huge seed cup doors big double front doors too, so you dont have to crank your arm inside to get them like some cages...

what can i say...i luv the dern cage lol laugh

I like that cage too. The cage I have now is similar...just too darn small! I have it hanging right now (my dog wants to jump up and hit it with his feet...can't have that) and it's not problem for me to unhook it and take it down for cleaning, which in the month I've had the babies, I've done twice. It's in my living room so gotta keep up the housekeeping, right?

My hubby is going to take a good look and see what he can figure to hang it and make it easy for me to get it up and down lower so I don't have to stand on a step stool to play with them. He would be the one to take it all the way down, but based on what research I've done on this one is that it's about the same weight as the one they are in now.

I don't mind the door click thing either. I think it looks like my babies possible new home! Yay!

what kind of dog is this we are talking about???? i think it would be a good idea to work at training the dog to obey the command ...no jump...that way he/she wont jump on kids or people either...or put some sort of gate up at doorway to that room to keep him out ...seems like such a chore becuz of the dog...lol

how old is this dog too????

well all things in time like i said re: cage id take a look at it if you havent already at petsmart so your hubby maybe able to figure out whats a best solution...

ok...continued best wishes on the whole thing giggle smile

I got a cage for Christmas! It's not the Hagen, but it's MUCH bigger than what I originally had, and my budgie Jim seems to love it. Maybe later on I'll get a Hagen, but for right now, I'm really liking the new cage. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753629&lmdn=Pet+Type I just need more toys for him!

almost can never have enough toys ...ALMOST lol...still will need a bigger cage as you will see when you start to add things.

watch the bottom to that cage the way it hooks in...can easily come apart...its one of those things you live and learn about...bottom is not very secure...and be really careful about the guillotine doors too...some birds have trapped themselves in them as they figure out how to lift them... frown

It seemed a good idea to me to restrict the toys and perches to the right half of the big Hagen. That decision has been confirmed by the considerable amount of flying Billie does in the left half, between the perches and the left wall and vertically from perch to perch.

I got this cage about 2 months ago and it is holding up great! The birds and I LOVE it. It's very sturdy and cheap for its size! It's very easy to get in and out through the 2 front doors and the 5 side doors smile hope this helps smile

I LOVE that cage Connor. Very roomy, well built and practical. Perfect.

I might add, when getting a bigger cage, hold on to your old smaller one. It will come in handy for a hospital or quarantine cage, or to put birds in if needed while doing a thorough soak and clean on new big cage.
Mine like using their smaller cage as a sort of playhouse or hangout
