Hi budgiesrule, I am so sorry about your loss. I had wondered about you recently and how your babies and you are doing?!
I think most of us have had sad, bad experiences at one time or another with our pets. It's never easy. Thanks for sharing with us, you need to know we love you and your birds.

oh gosh thanks all for your caring words. i do feel so guilty. but it wasn't my fault that kookie monster was so so curious. darn it! i will post some pics soon of my p-keet family with kookie. i miss her quirky charms. ughh.. this is tough
do you think the other parakeets are damaged mentally????
do they remember? they watched the whole thing i am sure so i am really worried about them. the male has been looking for her, but he has another mate puff who is a girl too. i really hope there was no pain!!!!!!!
thanks all

BR, I am sure that the other birds will be affected by this tragedy. He was part of their flock and of course they saw it happen. I wish we could know for sure. I think that how long they will grieve depends on you. I know our animals are a mirror to us, like our children are. When we are in a certain mood, they will react to that and etc.And I can only try to imagine how you must be feeling. Here's hugs for you and your flock. (((hugs)))

like you, they will probably "grieve" the way keets sometimes do and they will come to grips. you are going to be a main help there. you are a major member of the flock and they will be looking to you for guidance and reassurance. it will take time but you and they will be fine.
br, i am positive it was quick and kookie never really knew what even happened. keep strong for you and the rest of your flock. (((hugs)))

I'm sorry to hear that...My heart goes out to you. I watched one of mine die just several months ago, so I know it can be hard...

I'm so sorry for your loss. Please don't let guilt make you miserable.

I think your other keets will be able to move on, with your continued good care.
