I deal with stress in many ways, but mostly I eat or shop. But I have to say that music also has a calming affect on me. Sometimes, I love to blast my radio and dance, while other times I enjoy a glass of wine and listen to Josh Groban or Placido Domingo. My musical tastes are all over the place. Lately, I've been sitting in my den and watching the birds and squirrels that come to my deck. I go through a loaf of bread a day to feed them. THAT de-stresses me.

Speaking of petting, another way of de-stressing - especially when a man has a wife who spends a lot of time on her feet, as my wife does in 12-hour labor & delivery shifts, are foot rubs.
I don't really enjoy the exfoliating part of it, but following that with the emolient and smoothing lotion truly helps my wife's comfort, and I can put my mind in neutral and just coast.
And the music - putting on a good concert where I don't have to watch the tv screen is also good for relaxing and going with the flow.
As for the birds and squirrels, Marge and her sister Rosanne built a bird and squirrel feeding area for their Mom to watch out her bedroom window. It doesn't take the squirrels long to get the seed bell down from it's hanging place. Greedy little things, but cute.
And she loves the cardinals and even blue birds. Not seen any blue jays yet, which is good, because they are such bullies!
Marge is the love of my life.

In an honors English class (years ago), our assignment was to write instructions on how to tie a shoe lace. It was quite funny to see how badly this can turn out. Also, it was quite instructive to see how difficult it is to put into words that another can follow, tasks that have become second nature.
How would you word it?
Or are there other things that you thought would be very simple, but turned out to be much more difficult than you thought?
Marge is the love of my life.

Make a loop with one end, wrap the other end around it and pull a loop through, tighten.

Fairly good. But picture someone following your directions, and only your directions (rather than what they have learned to make their fingers do). Pull a loop through what? Tighten how?

Hold one end of each shoe lace in each hand.
Then cross them...making an X with them.
Grab one of the laces and pass it under the other one and pull tightly.
Take one of the laces and fold it in half(make it look like a bunny ear)keeping laces taute.
Grab the other lace and wrap it around the folded one (the bunny eared one) then grab it in the middle after pulling it around the already folded lace.
Bend that into a loop and pull it thru making a bow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Is that understandable?
many moons ago, i wrote "hack" at the baby. it appears i have caused some confusion! lol when one of my birds snaps at another... i call it "hacking at". it is almost like a beak can "chop" at another so i started calling it hacking (chopping) make any sense, prob not! lol
