Aw, thanks. KareBear: Love! your avatar

Tweet: They can use the ties as toys theoretically...the plastic won't hurt them, and they add *even more* color. You'd swear a rainbow exploded in their cages (which was kinda the desired effect).

REALLY?! Well if that's the case... Home Depot here I come!! Hee hee! My keets seem to like my "home made" toys more than the store bought ones! Which I think is quite funny! I guess it's similar to babies and toys.. why play with the toy when the box is soo much fun?! LOL

Thanks 3budgies for my AWESOME AVATAR!! \:\)

LOL yeah. Oh no, the cat just came in here to play with his ball! It startled me and the mildly sleeping budgieboos...it's been a big day! Haha aww. Anyway, they sell those letter blocks too which keets apparently love (haven't tried them yet). My boyfriend (who helped me cut the remainder of the perches by the way) noticed that the rope is a HUGE hit with them.

For example, Baby is BIG about his swinging perch, and I just so happened to put it next to the big rope...he went from perch to rope from rope to perch etc. until he fell asleep beside Snow. Lemon is currently sleeping on the rope in the smaller cage, and Biskig is enjoying the thicker perch toward the top of the cage. Maybe it's a texture thing?

I also got varying sizes of dowels...there's a significantly thin one in both cages, which I figure will help their gripping capability? Dunno, but they tend to lean toward the thicker perches...or the rope :-P

Whee! I just hope Snow doesn't have scaly face...wouldn't Baby have it now too since he's Snow's buddy bird and they practically make out all the time?

that looks great!!
make sure that when you try to integrate biskig back in you keep a close eye on your birds, as in dont leave the room for longer then five minutes until you're positive they're fine. They might pick on him because of his band or it might just be because hes older and weaker theres a member on this forum (prettybird) who has a keet who always has to stay separated except when the keets are playing because he has splayed legs so the other keets pick on him.

here is some info on scaley face http://www.birds-online.de/gesundheit/gesparasiten/grabmilben_en.htm
and i got this from another website

"The big problem with Scaly Face is not how to treat an individual bird. The concern is how to stop the problem from affecting other ‘in contact’ birds. Scaly Face is quite contagious and if left untreated, other birds will succumb to the disease. In addition, because the infection only becomes obvious after six to twelve months, it can have quite a toe-hold on a flock of birds before the problem becomes obvious.

The mite spends its whole life cycle on the bird thus it appears to be transmitted between birds by direct contact. It is also likely that some birds are genetically more susceptible to the mite than others. It also seems able to burrow into wooden perches in the cage. Therefore, you should replace perches in an infected cage weekly, using branches from native trees.

Ivermectin can also be used to control Scaly Face in an aviary of birds. Your veterinarian will advise you further on its use and on other procedures to control the problem."
