Well, you need dandelions which I think are now out of season - but if you find some, here's a recipe!

Really you tend to mostly taste the honey you make it with, I think the dandelions are in there for color smile

We still have some Dandelions up here... I just happened to find your recepie today and I was thinking that I might make it. I'm new to wine-making, so I'm not quite sure about adding "Yeast and Nutrient." How much of this should I be adding to a batch of dandelion wine?

It tasted good about 30 years ago in St. Louis, but not sure they followed your recipe. I've had a hunkering for it since then but after reading the how to make recipe, fear I don't have the pot big enough to handle all that nor the time to pick all them flowers!
Anyone want to start selling it? Can I invest in it and get me a case?

Hi all and welcome to iceholly & phily

Dandelion wine is something that I remember elderly gardeners making when I was young.

If you make some or try some, let us know what it was like!

You need to add yeast or you will get a weird taste in the wine. And you need yeast nutrient to feed the yeast, it doesn't only live on sugar.

It is very hard work to get one gal. of dandelion wine. It took me and two other people 5 hours of picking then desteming. It taste a bit like a white wine and needs to age 6 months before tasting, and 1 year before it is really good. It should last for over 10 years with a good cork.
