Is it OK to store white wine in the refrigerator?

No problem unless you are intending to age the wine for many years.

Its a good idea to have a bottle of white in thefridge always ready to be opened when friends call...

I guess it's a personal preference. I don't like my wine straight from the fridge -- much too cold. Should be warm enough for you to smell the bouquet and not taste just the cold.

In fact, when we bring up red wine from the wine cellar, we leave it out for a while to take the chill off.

I'll have to take a look at the Wine Serving Temperature posts to see what they're chatting about.

I agree with Peter and think it's fine if you'll be serving the wine in the relatively near future, which is probably true with a white wine anyway.

Just take it out a little before you want to drink it, so it can warm up a little. You don't want to be drinking the wine at cold-as-milk 37F, you won't get many flavors out of it that way!

I find it much easier to take a white wine out of the fridge and let it warm up a bit naturally, vs having it down in the storage fridge (which is say 60F) and trying to get it to cool down from there ...

Again, referring to a previous conversation, it depends on the temperature of your fridge.

Welcome Casdas!

That's a great point. Some people think red wine should always be served at whatever temperature it is at. It has a "good range" just like any other food has a "good range"! Ice cream is nice when it's cold but less nice when it's 90F and soupy smile
