OK, it is of course Beaujolais Nouveau time, where the very first harvest of fall 2003 is quickly made into wine and released!
I'm drinking a 2004 DuBoeuf Beaujolais Nouveau. It's made from the gamay grape and created in a matter of weeks from when the grapes are harvested. This isn't meant to be a fine wine
It's meant to be an easy drinking fun wine to celebrate fall with.
That being said, the flavor is just a bit too sharp for me. I'm even eating it with cheese to mellow the flavor out. Cherry jello ... hint of amethyst to the color ... the tartness is like that of grapefruit, with a very thin mouthfeel. I don't know, it's just not the combination for me.
