Songs with Wine in their LyricsMusic is just like wine. Each of us has very different tastes in what we like and dislike. The music that is "best" for one person can easily be "worst" for another people. So it's always fun to see when wine is mentioned in song!
These are just the songs that do NOT have wine in their titles. These songs simply have wine mentioned in the lyrics. The songs with wine in their actual title get a list of their own! Songs with Wine in their Titles
Here are some of the wine songs I've come across. I find myself singing these sometimes while I'm tasting wines. How about you? Let me know if you know of any wine songs that are not included in this listing!

I don't pop my cork for every guy I see
Hey, big spender!
spend a little time with me!"
Brandyby Looking Glass
"And there's a girl, in this harbor town
And she works, laying whiskey down
They say "Brandy, fetch another round"
She serves them whiskey and wine."
-- Not at the same time, I hope!! :)
Cheap Wineby Cold Chisel
"I've got my Cheap Wine and a three day growth"
Children's Crusadeby Sting
"History's lessons drowned in red wine"
Cracklin' Rosieby Neil Diamond
"Cracklin' Rosie, you're a store-bought woman
You make me sing like a guitar hummin'"
--The lyrics don't explicitly mention wine but this is all about drinking a cheap blush wine
Crushby Dave Matthews
"Drink some wine till we get drunk"
"Sunshine, strawberry wine
a little taste of leather and lace "

"Drink to me only with thine eyes,
And I'll not ask for wine"

"Some say good love, well it's like a fine wine
It keeps getting better as the days go by"
-- Does that mean that at some point good love will still turn into vinegar?
Elviraby The Oak Ridge Boys
"Eyes that look like heaven, lips like sherry wine"
Escape / The Pina Colada Songby Rupert Holmes
"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food, I am into Champagne."
-- I always thought this song was both odd and interesting! It's about a pair of lovers both cheating on each other.
Evil Womanby ELO
"You made the wine, now you drink the cup"
Feed My Frankensteinby Alice Cooper
"You dont want to talk
So baby shut up
And let me drink the wine from your fur tea cup"

Kick off your high heel sneakers, it's party time"
Franceby the Grateful Dead
"When the singing's really fine, sweet as Spanish sherry wine...

When the rhythm's really fine, rare and sweet as vintage wine"

Hide the bottle when the cop goes by"
He Went to Parisby Jimmy Buffet
"The warm summer breezes, the French wine & cheeses"
-- hey, isn't the plural of cheese still cheese? :)
Her Majestyby the Beatles
"I wanna tell her that I love her a lot,
but I gotta get a belly full of wine -
Her majesty's a pretty nice girl;
some day I'm gonna make her mine - oh yeah."
-- Look at that - wine promotes honesty!
Honky Catby Elton John
"Living in the city ain't where it's at
It's like trying to find gold in a silver mine
It's like trying to drink whisky from a bottle of wine"
-- wait, doesn't that just mean you pour the whiskey into the wine bottle? That sounds easy to me! It's like the traditional 'cheat' of people pouring a cheap wine into a fancy wine bottle to impress the guests. I do love this song though! It's definitely a dancing song :)
Hotel Californiaby the Eagles
"Please bring me my wine, he said 'We haven't had that spirit here since 1969'"
Then later on in the song:
"Mirrors on the ceiling, the Pink Champagne on Ice,
and she said, 'We are all just prisoners here of our own device.'"
-- shouldn't that be devices? :) I love this song in general, and wine is so intertwined in it and its symbolism that I think it's my top wine song of all time.

Jack Strawby the Grateful Dead
"We can share the women,
we can share the wine"
Jesseby Carly Simon
"Jessie, I won't cut fresh flowers for you
No Jessie, and I won't make the wine cold for you"
But then later the singer changes her mind ...
"Jessie, I'll always cut fresh flowers for you
And Jessie, I'll always make the wine cold for you"
She then explains her change -
"Let's open the wine
And drink to the heart
Which has a will of its own"
-- But here's the real question, why does this person want cold wine? Don't they want proper temperature wine? Are they drinking wine out of the fridge, with ice cubes in it?
Joy to the Worldby Three Dog Night
"Jeremiah was a bull frog.
Was a good friend of mine.
Never understood a single word he said,

while the glow from the wine
makes a fool out of me."
Just One Moreby George Jones
"Well, One More Drink of Wine
Then if you're Still on my Mind
One Drink, Just One More and then Another"
Killer Queenby Queen
"She keeps Moet et Chandon in a pretty cabinet.
'Let them eat cake,' she says, just like Marie Antoinette."
-- Moet et Chandon is a brand of Champagne. Intriguingly because it's a pair of names, one Dutch, one French, it's pronounced as a mixture. The MOET part is pronounded non-French, as Moh-Et, while the Chandon part is pronounced French, as in Shahn-Dohn.
Lady Marmaladeby Christina Aguilera etc.
"boy drank all that magnolia wine"

"We're gonna bring a case of wine
Hey, Let's go mess and fool around
You know, Like we used to"

he never drank water he always drank wine..."
-- I was lucky enough to interview Mary before she passed away - she was a delightful woman!
"With some good red wine and my brand new shoes.
Gonna dance a blue streak around my living room!"
-- inquiring minds want to know what a "good" red wine is!
Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Againby Bob Dylan
"She said that all the railroad men just drink up your blood like wine"
Sweet Eyed Blindnessby Laury Nyro
"Don't ask me cause I ain't gonna tell you what I been drinking,
ain't gonna tell you what I been drinking
aint gonna tell you what I been drinking --
Wine of Wonder."
These Are the Daysby Van Morrison
"turn water into wine"
-- I always think of a Mad Magazine parody when I hear this song, for the Lord of the Rings book back in the 1970s. I remember the new lyrics went something like this:
"Hills were filled with orcs and ugly creatures,
Polyester suits they didn't wear ...
Had no Burger Kings or Arthur Treacher's
And they'd never heard of Medicare ..."
Scary that I can still remember that all these years later!
This Magic Momentby Ben E. King with The Drifters
"Sweeter than wine, softer than a summer night.
Everything I want I have, whenever I hold you tight."
-- so is wine really sweet? :) Isn't everything sweeter than wine?

"They drank up the wine, and they got to talking

-- I love this song! But are they saying that they could only talk about important stuff while drunk?
We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Offby Jermaine Stewart
"We can dance and party all night, and drink some cherry wine"
What's Your Nameby Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Well, the police said we can't drink in the bar
What a shame
Won't you come upstairs, girl,
And have a drink of Champagne!"
-- I love how they say "Poh-Leese" :)
Willin'by Little Feat
"And If You Give Me: Weed, Whites, and Wine
And You Show Me a Sign
I'll Be Willin', to Be Movin' "
You Can't Always Get What You Wantby the Rolling Stones
"I saw her today at a reception,
a glass of wine in her hand.
I knew she would meet her connection -
at her feet was her footloose man."
-- I saw the Rolling Stones in concert in 2008, they're still quite good! This seems to be relating to drugs, that the woman in question was waiting to meet a connection to do a drug buy. Apparently the later part of the song is about methodone and the woman could be Marianne Faithfull who was hooked on heavy drugs at the time.
You're Sixteenby Johnny Burnette
"You come in all peaches and cream, lips like strawberry wine.
You're sixteen, you're beautiful, and you're mine."
-- Ah, to be young and in love ...
