Wine in The Pink Panther 2
The Pink Panther 2 brings Steve Martin back as Inspector Clouseau, the French detective who manages to get the girl and catch the thieves.
One of the most classic wine scenes in recent movie history comes right at the beginning of the movie. Clouseau is remembering a lovely dinner he had with his true love -

Clouseau remembers that he wanted to choose the wine personally for her. "I will select the wine - it is one of my specialities." He goes up to the front desk and says, "I would like to select my own wine and by the way I am Inspector Jacques Clouseau - remember this." He pays off the man and goes over to the rack of wine bottles.

Of course chaos ensues, with bottles flying all over the place. He ends up with the last bottle - and decides it's great!

Why didn't he just take the bottles already out on a table? Too easy?

However he quickly sets the entire restaurant on fire.
His nemesis watches the news reports from a yacht. Surely if he could afford the fancy boat, he could afford some nice Riedel glassware to drink out of? Instead he appears to have cheap, thick-glass Champagne flutes.

When Clouseau is on a plane he drinks something really orange. Is he drinking sherry??

Later on Clouseau is back in the same restaurant he burnt down, which is just reopening. The wine on the table here is a pinot noir - and interestingly it is actually labeled with that. That's unusual in France, for a label to have the grape name on it. Is that guy on the right about to summon a dragon? I think he's focusing on the thought.

Later at an awards ceremony they are drinking Champagne, in lovely glasses. Interestingly if you watch this scene, the glass in his hand appears and disappears. It must be a trick he learned from Danny Ocean.

Finally, some Champagne at Clouseau's wedding!
