Parakeet limericks

Parakeet limericks - 08/23/09 05:34 PM

My hubby and I went to a book store last night where I found a book of limericks. On the way home (keep in mind it was late and we were bored) we came up with limericks about our keets. wink
So I thought I would post a few and challenge you all to come up with your own. smile

With a squack, a fuss and a Ptooey!
My keets yelled "Mom, you're quite screwy!"
"When you fixed us our lunch,
we expected some crunch,
Not peas that are nasty and gooey!"

The once was a keet named Patches
Who liked to burn his toys in large batches
Till a wind came with a huff
his feathers went up in a puff..
No longer does he play with matches

I have a few more but I will save them for later. Cant wait to see what we all create!

there once was a budgie named perry
who thought of himself as a fairy :P
so he got an old wand
and tried to make himself blond
but just turned himself to a canary

what do you think? smile

Hahahahaha -- these rock! --- and what a clever idea... hmmm...

There once was a very fat budge;
in fact, her first name was Pudge.
She ate all seeds all day,
and scarfed down millet spray,
til her mama gave her a big nudge.

"My gosh, you weigh forty two grams,
and your thighs look like huge Easter hams!
Off the perch, you plump bird!"
and without one more word,
Pudge got pellets and spinach and yams.

There once was a very pretty, pampered princes named Missy;
Of course you would know she would have a hissy!
As she plopped her little self to take a nap,
she seemed to struggle like a mat.
Trying to act all pampered and princess-y,
Missy was exactly having a hissy.
Missy was a pampered princess, yes indeed,
so why would she have a need?

smile Do you like?
I love all of yours!

I know its not a limerick but here's a poem that I wrote and posted a while ago.
Dedicated to all those, like me, that can't get their parakeets to eat their veggies and herbs.

Veggies and HerbsWritten by, me

Will you eat your veggies and herb?
"I will not eat them." said Sherby bird

I will not eat them from my toy
I will not eat them from a boy

I will not eat them on the floor
I wiil not eat them through my door

I will not eat them in my dish
I will not eat them if you wish

I will not eat them on a line
I will not eat them chopped all fine

I will not eat my veggies and herbs
I will not eat them, said Sherby bird

that is tooo good! dr suess would be proud! smile

a flock of 6 bidgies were flying.
of frustration, their "mother" was dying.
lets get on the same page,
you get back in your cage,
or all you'll smell soon, will be budgies frying!

does that count as a limerick?
i would never really do that!:)

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/23/09 11:45 PM

There once was a tiel named Daisy
They said she was nice, but she's crazy
She gives me the frights
My fingers she bites
If she stops, it'll amaze me

I have more than one keet
I should cover my stuff with a sheet
they fly here and there
they poop everywhere
but I still say they can't be beat

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/23/09 11:53 PM

lol, good job skip!!!!

there once was a keet with a floofie
a snoofie, a wingfie, a bloofie
the keet said, hey there
what if i took snaps of YOUR hair?
i'm quite sure all you humans are GOOFIE!!!!

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/24/09 01:08 AM

These are great! I love them all!

There was a green keet called Baisy
Who's right eye was slightly lazy
He'd lean over for a drink
Then end up in the sink
His feathers all wet and crazy

There once was a white keet named Louie
Who liked to play in her pooey
It stuck to her feet
She thought it quite neat
While the other's thought she was screwy!

Val, I love your avi pic.
smile

And good limericks!
Keep them coming in!

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/24/09 04:52 AM

red neck is a keet that's albino.
what sex is it, how should i know?
it's legs get all jiggly,
and toes get all wiggly,
and it wobbles on it's perch like a wino!

nik nak is the prettiest green.
the cutest thing i've ever seen.
she likes to nap more
than the rest, by the door.
sleep deprived... man is she ever mean!

froot loop is a peculiar bird.
she sometimes pulls feathers, i've heard.
tears them out with her beak,
and emits a loud "squeak"
pretty soon, she will have to be furred!

my tringkit is just a mouth piece.
he's almost as loud as wild geese.
but he's here safe inside,
to the north he can't fly.
cause way up there,
he would have to wear fleece!

ozzie just loves to give kisses.
the others, she totally diss's
she thinks she's boss bird
but she mustn't have heard,
baby blue, with the food dishes
she is!

marble has learned what "love" is.
he goes up to his toy and gets "bizz""
he squirms and he wriggles,
it just makes me giggle
but cold plastic can't have the same "fizz"!

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/24/09 06:58 AM

aw these are fun! i want to try. hmm..

there once was a bird named Bijou
and he was adorable too.
he loved to sing loudly
and played rather proudly
and on his new toy he did chew.

I tried:P maybe i can come up with a better one tomorrow..

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/24/09 11:07 PM

Poor little Missy all nippy and feisty;
Why in heavens wouldn't she be so nicey?
Oh why, the nipping, honey?
Dixie even hops like a bunny.
As Missy pushes Dixie from the food bowl;
of course you know, she's trying to get a goal.
The goal of getting Dixie to leave and drink his water;
Such a great little birdie!
Missy did get away once,
Oh yes she did!
But hey, Dixie done with his bounce!
Posted By: **mattie**

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/24/09 11:10 PM

Dixie doesn't do a hissy;
no sir-ie!
But of course he's getting a flee.
Birds get flees?
I never heard of such a thing!
That's not too much glee.
Dixie once again is a gentlemen,
but why Missy is such a 'diva'...
Missy does a hissy with her tricksies,
boy, she's a fishy hissy!

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/24/09 11:14 PM

(One more!!! This is fun! :D)

Why in heavens, sissy?
Haha! You know, duh, thats Missy!
Missy is a tricksie hissy, fissy Missy.
Is Missy going to let Dixie eat?
Finally!!
Nice birdie, all suddenly nice and purr-ty.
With a big 'chirp!' there goes Dixie,
flying in a circle looking like a Missy.
See Missy?
Dixie isn't a sissy!!
(like you are ROFL)

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/25/09 01:35 AM

we all have these keets that we love,
though some of us have to wear gloves
you would think they'd be sweet
from the multiple treats
but their favorite still seems to be blood!

When they were three
they were the blue crew

They became the Bruisers
when in a black one flew

Now another has arrived
changing the colors true

A new name they need
The Caribbean Crew.

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/25/09 03:31 AM

Ok, I'm on a roll (it may be a down hill roll but I'm rolling none the less!)

Aruba was the first to arrive
King of the Hill he does survive

Caico and Antigua showed up as a pair
The hill they tackled but did not fair.

Cayman the baby I did buy,
He climbed that hill,
the tough little guy!

Now comes Jamaica, a little girl?
The top of the hill she will claim still!

Re: Parakeet limericks - 08/25/09 06:17 PM

this one is dedicated to a very special, mr edgar allen keet...

edgar keet would just sit at his door,
looking at toys he had thrown on the floor.
his mess was distressing,
his mom was past guessing,
those toys would be seen "never more"! smile

Here is Freddy
He is ready
Although so cute
You'd be smart to scoot
A bite of flesh
He likes it fresh
When he gets some
To him its better than rum

Cookie is my sweet
A bird everyone would want to meet
Bright yellow
Not so mellow
A ball of fluff
She can be rough
