Okay, so I just read yesterday on this forum a little bit about Blood Feathers.. Well, guess what happened?

One of Ash's longer feathers is sticking out, and it's got blood near the tip close to his body. What do I do? Do I leave it, or pull it out or what?

This is my first time owning Parakeets (or any other type of bird, though my mother has had birds nearly all my life, just not ones that we were able o handle or train). I'm REALLY worried.

Well, I don't know, but I googled blood feathers and found this website that might help you:

It looks like it might be a good site, hope it helps! Tell us how it goes! smile smile

That site is very helpful, thank you. *Booksmarks.*

They're still a bit afraid of coming out of the cage, so while he was flying around trying to avoid my hands (he has no problem just sitting on my fingers in the cage, though), the feather got knocked out.

I held him and put pressure on it with a little cosmetic pad, and I think he's okay now.. Except for the fact that he's mad at me (he actually bit me frown ). My aunt (who knows a lot about birds) returned my call and calmed me down, explaining that it wasn't anything that could kill him.

I think I'm in worse shape than he is right now. =\

I'm glad it helped, and that he's okay. smile That would be so scary. Keets are a lot like little kids. Like when a little kid gets all scraped up and you have to put peroxide on them, and they yell and whine at you about it? Yeah. :p But I'm sure he understands that you were helping him, just like a little kid understands that when his mom doctors his scrapes. They don't like it and they'll let you know it, but they know you're helping them. smile smile

Thanks. smile And I hope so, I don't need my babies hating their mama already. :-P That shouldn't happen 'til they're teenagers.
