The intended use of the product (or at least mine) is to just have it on when the bird comes out of the cage and makes a visit to somewhere other than one's home or room.

I have to say that I never expected this harsh of criticism for bringing up a friendly idea. Speaking of things in this world that get us hot and bothered for no good reason, I think I'm going to have to say goodbye now. Best wishes to all of you and your feathered friends. smile

'You have no idea how angry that makes me.' [Pickles & Penelope]

I have no problem with people expressing opinions.

'That is absolutely disgusting.'[Pickles & Penelope]

Well, it may be or it may not be - I really don't know enough about 'bird diapers'. You need to explain what the basis of this disgust is, I think. Are you certain that these items are cruel?

If these items are cruel, then I agree that they are disgusting. But are they cruel? Is it fair to accuse someone who finds them useful of being 'a person who does not deserve to be a pet-owner'?

'Anyone that uses those for their bird does not deserve to be a pet owner.' [Pickles & Penelope]

I think that this sounds harsh and offensive towards the forum member who uses the item. If there is good reason for being disgusted with it, then I feel that friendly constructive criticism would have been more suitable.

The member in question is upset & offended.

I have noticed how important birds are to the members of this forum and so I can see why people become angry but I can also see that this comment might be considered very offensive.

'I am used to forums that are a little more open-minded when it comes to allowing people to state their opinions.' [Jan Ellen Ball]

I am not saying that you cannot express your disgust at the item, if you feel that it is merited, merely that people should ensure that they have checked their facts and then consider the feelings of the person who might be hurt by certain comments and so choose to word them carefully.

This forum is very open-minded, but I like to try to ensure that no-one is being upset, without good reason, by any of the comments posted. That's all.

Has anyone done any research into these things?

I have been on the website where the flight suits come from. They do a very good job on explaining how to put it on your bird, the design, and benifits. Ive even seen the suits promoted on animal planet for their ingenious idea. I can see no way the bird could be hurt or uncomfortable if the suit is put on right.

WARNING: May resort to babaling and ranting at times. Short attention spans take caution.

I think if I were to get one, I would use it only to take them to the vet or outside. I probably would never take them outside because I would probably drop the leash and they would get away. I still think it would be something good for transporting birds.
