Ive never seen him asleep, when i find myself drifting off, hes sitting on his highest perch just looking around (this is when i quietly check under the cover that is) and when i wake up he's sitting in the exact same position as if he's never moved. Also i notice that when he's out the cage around 6 or 7pm, he looks very tired.

Has this ever happened with anybody else?

Yes, we have never seen ours asleep either. Mind you, have never peeked under the cover, but haven't even seen him tuck his head into his back or fully shut his eyes during the day. He also stays in the exact same position all night which is evident from the pile of poop on cage floor directly underneath him each morning.
