I hope someone can offer some information. My Mom's parakeet, a green budgie, "birdie", is acting fine, but seems to be swollen under the tail and her poop is not small but in large lumps. She also does this trance-like pose when Mom goes to clean her cage and starts talking to her. She looks upward, kind of stretched out, and freezes in place. Mom has even been able to put her hand around her and bring her out of the cage during her "trance". Does anyone know what in the world she's doing? It's hilarious, we just hope it's nothing serious.

well first off welcome to the forum!

secondly is eating normally and everything too?
i think you should take her to a vet...
but are there any male birds in the cage with her?
becuase females tend to have bigger poops when they are laying and sitting on eggs.

She's the only bird they own and, to our knowledge, she's never laid eggs. She came to them by flying into their yard several years ago. She's eating ok.

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS! grin

Well, she could still be laying. Females are like chickens! They lay with or without males!
Get her some calcium powder in her food ASAP! Also, get marbles shaped like eggs. Replace the ones she lays with the fake ones so that you can dispose of the real ones.
They are infertile, so there will be no babies.

Health and behavior questions are simple questions that a parent can ask to understand their child's relationship with health and their behavior in a particular situation. You need to check this therapy abuse and get more new tips for emotional abuse. The purpose of these questions is to define the context in which health and behavior problems occur, as well as to allow parents to discuss options with their child.
