His name has come...Tango! I found a 6 hour block of classical music on You-tube that he likes- and when my favorite comes on by Carlos Gardel, Tango starts singing - so I'm thinking it's his favorite too. Well, the one we both like is a tango. Ha ha. Pretty cool that he likes the same as I do. I'll put other music on for him eventually, but I thought classical might be good to start off with, because I don't think he's ever heard music before.

Poor kid. I thought I was buying a hand raised one- it's a small pet store ran by a husband and wife and I know she hand raised some of the other ones. But not the parakeets.
I don't want to push him too much, for sure, but if he wants to I let him. When he moves to the front of the cage to me, I'm thinking he wants attention. I figure it gives him something to do too. When we watch TV across the room, he climbs onto the front of the cage and watches us and chirps. I sing to him every night when I cover his cage. The first time I moved the sheet over the top he freaked out, so I just do it slow and he's okay with it now. I talk to him, and read to him.
I played other budgies (You-Tube again) the first two days, just to see if he'd settle down, and it worked- but I switched to music then because I didn't want him to be confused and looking for others, and I wanted him to bond to me.
I made so many mistakes with my first bird (I was a kid) and I'm just hoping to do it right with Tango.
