They can....I did it but, it wasn't the greatest situation. All depend how dominate your tiel is. I would put them in seperate cages but, let them play together for a while out of the cage. Let them get to know each other better first!

I think there was a web site that someone posted that discourages it. It said like birds should be with like birds. I know my keet tried to attack my tiels feet when my tiel tried perching on top of tillies cage. Now the two stay in there own space but the cages are side by side.

Have you ever sen what a teil can do to a keet? Have you ever seen toes bit off and feathers ripped out, no probably not. To put the birds togeter spells disater. You never put two birds that are not the same in the cage. Each needs there own space. I'll tell that That i have a bird breeder down the street from me. I.ve known the family since i was a kid in my home town. I just ask her about people mixing and she says the same as me NO! Her teil ripped the toes off the keet and killed her best keet. The answer is no.They can be in the same room with lots of space between them. She has ben a breeder for many years. Please you could save your keets life by not encourgeing a situstion that has not yet gone badly. The teil especially the male can be agressive. The females are more friendly and less tempermental.

I also heard that keets can be pretty nasty to tiels as well.

Yes this is true. Birds that don't flock together don't belong together, it is never a good idea to mix breeds.

i remember in this one book. it was called 'my parakeet and me' said that a keet and tiel could live together. so it is possible. just dont rush it or it could be the end for your keet (or tiel)

beaky! the rambunctious quaker

lucy- yellow recessive pied girly!

beenie- blue buddy

ringo- my late dominant pied

george- green little spaz!

cooper- my old cockatiel, with his real owners now.

i've always wondered about that too...
i asked around and the answer was always no...
the odds they would get along were slim

if youre planning on getting two different species of birds you should keep them in seperate cages(next to each other).. they can still enjoy having each others company without worrying yourself so much. I was thinking about getting a 'tiel once but decided i didnt want to risk my 'keet getting hurt... instead i just got another 'keet..
